Devlog #4: Combat Sneak Peek


Lots to report since the last update! 

Firstly, I took some time away from the project to release a separate game, Dreamweaver Damsels, go check it out if you haven't already! I have content updates planned for it, but those will have to wait for another day! 

I've still had plenty of time to work on DoH since last update. Firstly I implemented the music and sound effect system, which is complete aside from a handful of sound effects.  Then I started to give the combat gameplay the TLC it was needing. I also added a third region to explore, with 100 new enemy mages and a boss to face, which should be enough for the alpha release. Nothing is final yet, but I'm pretty happy with how things are looking at the moment! 


You cast your spells through waves of these enemies until you face their boss in battle. The boss fights still need some work before I show them off. Each encounter cleared will earn you resources to spend back at your castle. 

Oh, and this is a deck-building game, right?! So here's an example of using a card during combat:

So here's an updated alpha release remaining items:

Minimal Intro/Tutorial - bare minimum setting lore and gameplay tutorial to make sure players know how to play the game. 

Music/Sound Effects - 95% done, just need effects for a handful of interactions

Mage Content - No real progress on this except for I came up with more ways to reduce scope to get the build out sooner! 

Combat Polish - I need to iron out some things with boss fights then apply a coat of polish. Then combat will be complete! 

The alpha release feels closer than ever! I'll be posting an early test version over on the Community Discord once it is ready, so check it out if you want early access. See you next time!
